Posts have been in short supply on teabass again, my spare time is stretched very thin at the moment what with work; we are getting real close to launching but have suffered an acute case of feature bloat which has lengthened the development process but hopefully for the better with extra features, prettier pages and more ajax and other web2.0 buzzwords thrown in for good measure.
I received a shiny new Nikon D40 on Friday and then promptly spent the weekend taking close to 800 photographs around London, I also met up with the great Mike Franklin from America, and Danny and Eva who live in London but are from Australia. I had a great time, learn a large amount about using DSLR cameras in a very short space of time (thanks to some expert tips too) and snapped some very cool photos.
I also got the chance to go on the London Eye at night which is awesome, thanks again to Mike for paying, I took my macbook on there with me and quickly fired up iStumbler to find over 100 wifi access points many of which were unprotected, its a war-drivers dream or should that be war-wheeler?
Yesterday I got the chance to met up with Ryan, a long time supporter of Teabass and a really nice chap, he sure knows his php and apple products too. He’s working for Perplexcity (although he’s not allowed to say much so shhhh!) and it sounds really cool there, we are going to work try out some cool and very geeky things in the future such as a pilot podcast episode and an upgrade and re-launch to his online real-time space strategy game Orbwars.
Going back to the Teabass, it’s looking a little it of a mess at the moment, I’ve been using Twitter and Flickr and Delicious on a daily basis and i wanted to integrate them into the site but I didnt have a huge amount of time to spend on it so its kind of messy right now.
I’m loving twitter and using it basically as a microblog, with delicious for marking all the cool things i find and daily pictures and photos on flickr, Teabass is more for the long and indepth posts.
With those 4 services in mind and each having an RSS feed I did a little research and whipped up this page: http://teabass.com/multifeed
It’s by no means perfect or finished, a cool concept tho, all 4 feeds have been collected and then mixed together and sorted by date with a different CSS class for each type so I can style them differently too, when its a little more polished I’m thinking of making it the index page for teabass as a one-stop-shop for all my stuff.
And those pretty new shuffles.. I want a green one really bad but I know i’ll never use it because my nano trumps in almost every way, I can’t go back to having no screen.
Wordpress 2.1 updated without any problems at all and it seems all my usual plugins are still working too, SCORE! Shame that they developers pretty much forgot about Safari, at least we got a basic richtext editor in 2.0.6
I know many very intelligent American’s so please don’t be offended by this video if your one of them, but I just loved this video. I’m tempted to do a similar thing in the center of Bristol!!
Last night I received a couple of emails alerting me that both Future of Web Design and @media 2007 have opened their doors for registration.
They each have a great lineup of rockstar speakers from the world of web design and development and each one is offering large savings if you register in January.
Future of Web Design is in London and a steal at only £59 for a single day, it’s on April 18th in the Kensington Conference Center. I’ll definitely be going to this one, if anyone else is then let me know, we can do a little meetup before hand.
@media 2007 has also just announced all the details of the conference and opened up the doors for buying tickets.
Looks like it’s going to be an awesome show this year with many famous faces from the world of web design, development and media. It’s going to happen in 3 different places San Francisco, Hong Kong and London in the summer.
The London one is on the 7th and 8th of June, I’d love to go but at a sniffter under £400 for a two day pass, I don’t think I can afford it. If anyone is feeling generous then you know where to find me!
I completely forgot about it for a while and then found it in the bottom of my bag whilst hunting for my keys (which I’ve lost), I got the chance to see what was on it over xmas..
… we were all hoping for Spiderman 3 or some juicy celeb photos but it turned out to be a spanish tourists holiday photos and videos from a trip on the London eye. A bit of a disappointment but we all new it was 99% like to be fruitless but I can dream!
I’m not going to post any of the photos online to respect the privacy of the tourist. I don’t think there is anyway I’ll be able to find or return it to them either.
Saying that, I still have the contents of the card so if it belongs to you feel free to contact me and if you can provide enough proof that you are the owner I’ll be happy to send it to you with all the data intact.
Otherwise with my new Nikon D40 only two weeks away which just so happens to accept SD cards I think it will come in pretty useful and save me £40 or so.
