Farringtons Concepts

Monday, August 28th, 2006

I’m really getting into this web design stuff!

I recently got another job, doing a redesign of Farringtons Farm shop website Farringtons.co.uk

As you can see from their current site.. which does not work in anything other than Internet Explorer, it is in need of a lot of work!

I got the job via a marketing company that are close family friends, they are not really sure what they want their website to look like but they have a good idea of the content they wish to put on it.

So I’ve drawn up a few concepts:

Farringtons Concept 1

Farringtons Concept 2

Farringtons Concept 3

I think my fav is the second one, and the first could do with a little more work.

I’m going to present the designs later today, and discuss what they like and what they don’t and work from there.

What do you think?

  1. 2’s my fav as well, but it may be hard to keep up site-wide. Would be great as a home, after which you ease up a bit on the design but keep the colors and feel from that pic in the layout?

  2. yeah 2 is my favourite as well, but is that a brown and yellow cow i can see in the background (to the left)?

  3. second one defintely–even for all the pages should be easy to integrate.

    Whatever happened to catch404 btw?

  4. The client liked number 2 the best as well, they were very impressed and should be coming back to me with a more detailed description in a few days!

Catch404 is still there (currrently redirected) I just don’t have the time or knowledge to do what I want to with it.

  5. The second one is the one I’d go for, looks very professional indeed.

  6. Yep!
    Another vote for number 2.

YOu just need a different pic for each section - as long as they all look similar in tone you should be fine.

  7. We’re on the same wavelength there Tao, I made 3 of the same number 2 pic, with different farming pictures there, it worked wonders.

I also suggested having the pictures randomized!

  8. Secon one! Although I like the first but the second one has a much cooler image (did they supply them?).

  9. Second One, although I am fond of black web 2.0 headers….

Yeah Andrew where do you get your photos from, like the ones on your Myspace, for instance. They are so cool. Did you do them in Illustrator?

  10. second one, but cut the vert height of the img down a bit
possibly have a cow-pattern gardient in the background instead of solid
    gradient a little dark
    space betweek img and content

nice design, I’d just change those things and call it a day

  11. It’s being reviewed by the customer as we speak, I wouldn’t worry too much about the technical aspects just yet Dan, it’s just a concept/idea but thanks for your input.

  12. Congratulations on picking up another client, I have to say like everyone else that the cows are great, glad the client picked them.
